Varadero Cuba Weather

Varadero Weather in Summer:

Varadero Beach, Cuba’s foremost resort town is sited on the northern coast and boasts of a usual water temperature of around 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). Ambient temperatures are balmy all the year round, ranging between 24 to 30 degrees centigrade (67 to 86 degrees F) and generally milder than the rest of the Cuban territory. During the warm summer months, mean air temperatures hover above 80 degrees F, with high relative humidity of around 80 percent or above. It is highly recommended that you carry an umbrella or a raincoat with you on any outdoor activity and preferably wear loose, light coloured cotton fabrics.

Hurricane Season:

The months of Aug to Oct happen to be the hurricane season. This period has seen all the major twisters hitting the US west coast too. Varadero coast finds very few coming its way during these months and the reason again is its position in the Caribbean Sea. The storms playing havoc on the US west coast may bring showers and sometimes coastal flooding but it is better to avoid lonely beaches without lifeguards during such events.

Varadero Rains:

The Varadero rainy season which begins in May continues through the hurricane season till Oct. Varadero rains account for nearly sixty percent of the island nation’s total rainfall and generally average at around 800 to 1000mm. With the exclusion of few days of winter, Varadero weather is by and large wonderful with 300 days of sun during the year.

Varadero Weather in Winter:

Varadero weather in winter months is relatively cooler and more comfortable. There is really no winter in Varadero climate as per the definition of winter that we understand. So the months of Nov to Feb, the average temperature is a mild 21 degrees C or 70 degrees F. Varadero Beach is ideally located in the Gulf of Mexico giving it the advantage of gentle north-easterly trade winds all the year round. The Varadero hot weather is thus tempered with these cool airstreams. The nights can be really cool sometimes and if you happen to be enjoying a wet night at the beach, be advised to sip some warm drinks too.
